Prior to the 2024–2025 season beginning, Harlequins had signed Rodrigo Isgro, the reigning World Rugby Men’s Sevens Player of the Year.
The 25-year-old, a strong runner, competed for Argentina in the Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris and was a key member of Los Pumas Sevens when they won the SVNS League earlier this year.
Isgro’s SVSNS season, however, came to an unfavourable conclusion as he received a red card during Argentina’s 19–5 Grand Final loss to France in Madrid. He was given a suspension, which caused him to miss Argentina’s opening three Olympic games.
Argentina, who had won the bronze in Tokyo three years prior, came in seventh place in Paris.
Isgro has played 152 games for Argentina in his sevens career, accumulating 355 points (71 tries).
Isgro, who in 15s, had three caps and scored a try in his lone game in the Rugby World Cup 2023 against Chile.
Isgro declared, “I’m very excited for this opportunity with Harlequins,” after finishing his move to Harlequins. Playing for a team like the Quins has always been my dream, and I can’t wait to get to know my new teammates. I’m excited to don the Quins uniform and play at that storied stadium, and I hope I can assist the team reach its objectives.
He joins experienced full-back Leigh Halfpenny, props Titi Lamositele and Wyn Jones, and veteran full-back Titi Lamositele as the Harlequins’ fourth major addition of the summer.
Danny Wilson, the head coach, continued, “We’re thrilled to have Rodrigo on board. He’s a speedy, skilful, and dynamic athlete who gives our squad fantastic depth on the wing and more international experience. We anticipate that this mature player will immediately contribute to our goals for the season.
