Even though a few of their strikers are making great weekly wages in the Championship, Norwich City has not produced much thus far in the 2024–25 season.
Under new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup, the Canaries have not had the best start to the Championship season. They lost 4-0 to Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup, were defeated by newly promoted Oxford United on the first day of play, and did not look as dangerous in the closing third as they would have liked in the first few months of the season.
The two most dangerous offensive options for Norwich have been Spanish winger Borja Sainz and American striker Josh Sargent. Sainz scored the game-winning goal in Norwich’s away victory over Coventry City.
Sargent is off to a fast start in the current season, having scored 16 goals in the Championship to help Norwich to the playoffs the previous year.
While new signing Ante Crnac has yet to score for his new club as he attempts to establish himself in English football at Carrow Road, seasoned forward Ashley Barnes has yet to appear under Hoff Thorup as he continues to recuperate from an injury.
Now let’s examine the attackers’ projected weekly salaries in Norwich based on data from Capology.com.
1 Prior to Crnac
High-profile Croatian striker Ante Crnac joined Norwich this summer for a reported fee of approximately £9 million, after Adam Idah left for Scottish champions Celtic for £9.5 million.
The 20-year-old, who signed with a new club after leaving Polish team Rakow Czestochowa, is expected to make £12,500 a week there.
He has represented his country at the youth level across all age groups, and he will be looking to advance under Hoff Thorup at Carrow Road.
Championship forwards Jerry Yates, Elijah Adebayo, and Yakou Meite are among those who make an estimated £12,500 a week.
Second, Josh Sargent
Sargent, who joined Carrow Road from Werder Bremen in 2021 for an estimated £8 million, has been the main forward for the Canaries for the past few seasons.
It is important to emphasise that the information obtained from Capology.com is only an estimate, and the USA international’s weekly salary in Norwich’s second division is £25,000.
The 24-year-old will remain at Norwich until 2028 after agreeing to a new long-term contract last year; he will be hoping to help the team qualify for the Premier League before then.
Kieffer Moore of Sheffield United, Ellis Simms, the number nine for Coventry City, and Sam Gallagher, who is wanted by Stoke City, are other Championship strikers with an estimated weekly salary of £25,000.
3 Ashley Barnes
Hard-hitting forward Barnes came to the Canaries from Burnley in the summer, and he helped Norwich place in the top six that season with six goals in the league.
According to Capology.com, the 34-year-old’s weekly salary at Carrow Road is thought to be over £30,000.
Due to an injury to the plantaris, the muscle that runs along the back of the leg, he has not been able to play this season. However, there was hope that he would be able to play again in September.
Among the other attackers in the Championship who make an estimated £30,000 a week are Wilfried Gnonto and Jacob Brown.
