When Rangers play Dundee in the Premier Sports Cup on Saturday, September 21, their supporters will be pleading for Philippe Clement to start Nedim Bajrami.
The 25-year-old was granted his debut against Dundee United, coming on as a second-half replacement but failing to make the required impression for the Gers.
Naturally, the Albanian player hasn’t got much time to get used to life at Ibrox since he signed a £3.4 million contract with Sassuolo earlier this summer and immediately began playing for his country [Rangers Review].
After a lacklustre debut, Bajrami—who plays with the utmost professionalism—will be itching to get into Clement’s starting lineup against Dundee and win over the home crowd.
While the attacking midfielder only managed four goals and four assists in his Sassuolo career, his 22 goals and 22 assists in 127 matches during his Empoli days show that he has promise.
Deim Bajrami will start for Rangers against. Dundee for Philippe Clement?
Clement decided to start Tom Lawrence against the Tangerines despite the new addition, and it was a wise choice because the Welshman scored the game’s lone goal at Tannadice Park.
But supporters will undoubtedly be itching for the Bajrami to make his debut. The athlete, who can play several positions in the last third, is described by The Rangers Journal as a “technically gifted” standout [X].
Given how unimpressive his first 45 minutes with the Gers were, it would be incredibly unjust to evaluate the player based solely on that performance. Clement should give the guy another chance to establish himself in a Light Blue shirt.
Bajrami’s starting position has to alter because Dundee hasn’t been able to defeat the Gers in all three games since 2017. Clement can afford to make adjustments to his starting lineup.
