After a losing start to the season, Sunderland’s Championship opponents have fired their manager.
Cardiff City, Sunderland’s Championship rivals, fired manager Erol Bulut following the team’s dismal start to the league campaign.
After six games, the South Wales team has only one point, placing them bottom of the Championship. On the first day of the 2024–25 season, Sunderland defeated the Bluebirds 2-0.
Cardiff City Football Club said in a statement that First Team Manager Erol Bulut has been relieved of his responsibilities and will depart the Club immediately. The Board of Directors extends its gratitude to Erol for his tireless efforts and best wishes for the future.
“First Team Coach Nikolaos Karydas is also leaving, and the Club wishes him well on his departure. Additional confirmation from backroom staff will be provided when available. While the Club searches for a new permanent First Team Manager, Omer Riza will assume temporary leadership of the First Team.
