When it comes to finding new players, Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup has informed the Danish media that he will keep an eye on Denmark.
Since taking over as coach of the Championship team in May, the 35-year-old has already signed players from his native nation.
In an interview with Tipsbladet, Thorup talked about Norwich’s transfer plans and hinted that more Danes will be making their way to Carrow Road.
Thorup continued by saying that they would monitor the Danish market and would consider moving if a player met their requirements.
It is no secret that we are examining that market as well, given the abundance of youthful and skilled Danish competitors. Furthermore, I continue to believe that Anis (Ben Slimane) is a young or semi-young Danish player. Thus, we find it intriguing and will keep an eye on this market. Not fit, but quality will ultimately be the deciding factor. However, we are monitoring this market,” the Norwich City CEO stated.
When asked about bringing in Oscar Schwartau this summer, Thorup said the 18-year-old wanted to try something different and that Norwich City’s Danish coaches had a part in luring him in.
This was made possible by Oscar’s willingness to attempt something different. Fortunately, he showed interest when we informed him about the initiative, where we saw him in this, and that he could see two Danish coaches. Thorup stated, “His profile is exactly what we are searching for.
When Thorup was questioned about Anis Ben Slimane’s summer arrival, the Norwich City manager said he had known the player when the player was a young youngster at the AB academy.
“Even before the Superliga, when Anis was an AB U14 coach, I knew him. Thus, it is also a knowledge base that is really old. I’ve known him personally, and I think he’s a wonderful guy. diligent, polished, and a talented football player,” the Norwich manager remarked.
Although Glen Riddersholm, Oscar Schwartau, Jacob “Lungi” Sørensen, and Anis Ben Slimane are currently at Norwich City, it appears like Thorup may bring in further Danes.
He will be hopeful that his new additions will get going after an uneven campaign start. Norwich City has to get their season going because they are now eight points behind West Bromwich Albion in first position.
