Callum McGregor has been a superb captain for Celitc, seizing the reigns from Scott Brown easily.
Though no one has made any indication that he is considering putting up his boots just yet, fans and commentators are already debating who will eventually play the part.
But in order to concentrate on Celtic, the Celtic captain has given up playing football for other countries. It’s already paying off, as the midfield player, who seldom gets time off throughout a season, is rejuvenated following the international break.
Cameron Carter-Vickers, another defender, has also been mentioned in the mix alongside Alistair Johnston.
When Callum McGregor isn’t on the pitch, the American defender has assumed responsibility by donning the armband on a few times for Celtic. Andy Walks thinks CCV will eventually be able to handle the full-time position, though.
Walker stated on Go Radio, “The games are coming thick and fast.” It was significant and an additional factor in why players like Welsh and Trusty were given playing time.
“You should be prepared to step in for Brendan Rodgers if you hear him discussing the possible severity of Carter-Vickers’ injury. Welsh and Trusty were handed the minutes (against Falkirk) for this reason. The last thing you want is that.
“He’s an excellent leader. Carter-Vickers is type of captain material. His absence from the squad for these upcoming key games is the last thing you want.
Carter-Vickers is a fantastic addition to Celtic. He first signed a loan agreement on deadline day during Celtic’s first summer window under Ange Postecoglou.
Celtic had an option to buy included in the agreement, and the following summer, they triggered the clause.
