Star would ‘handcuff’ Hearts-linked manager to his club’s stadium to stop him leaving amid exit swirls
He’s been connected to several openings, including the Hearts position.
A star at the club where a manager connected to Hearts works claims he will do all it takes to keep his gaffer.
John McGlynn, a former coach who also led the Jambos from 2012 to 2013, has been mentioned as a potential candidate to take over at St Johnstone and Hearts. His Falkirk team easily won League One the previous year and has won five games in a row to start the Championship campaign.
In the Premier Sports Cup quarterfinal on Sunday at Parkhead against Celtic, his Bairns team was also ahead for stretches, which further enhanced his image even though they ultimately lost 5-2. One of Falkirk’s goalscorers, Finn Yeats, believes his coach will be in high demand, but tying him to their home field may help them hang onto him.
“He’s massive,” he said. He had just started when I initially joined with Falkirk, but it was clear from the start that he had a strategy and a two-year ambition. Observe our actions. We are still unbeaten in the league this year after being unbeatable the previous season.
He’s a terrific manager for us players because he pushes you to get on the ball and boosts the boys’ confidence. It’s hardly surprising that people are drawn to him. Should we cuff him and take him to the stadium? The fans, I believe, agree. He has been incredibly astute for the past several of seasons.
John will decide that, but I have a good feeling he wants to stay. We’ll find out, but ideally we’ll be competing against the best guys in the Premiership the next season. We have to get back to work after games like Sunday because there is generally a drop off, so we can’t get too thrilled.
