Home-grown talent dreams big as he makes Rangers transfer hint

With Philippe Clement having to manage such a high player turnover, Rangers were never going to be able to resolve all of their issues in a single summer.

The manager understands that the current player trading policy is the best course of action in the short- and long-term, and he is totally accepting of the position as he attempts to rebuild the squad.

The absence of homegrown players remains unaddressed despite the signing of Connor Barron and Liam Kelly to replace Ryan Jack and Robby McCrorie. Clement was left starting from scratch after Scott Wright was sold to Birmingham City.

Dreaming big, Lyall Cameron teases a Rangers transfer.

Rangers have always followed the path of shopping locally when fielding successful teams, so Philippe Clement should be aware of the next potential target.

Lyall Cameron ought to have drawn the attention of Nils Koppen, the Gers manager, after their recent match against Dundee, if he wasn’t already.

This season, in 11 appearances, the Scotland Under-21 international has five assists and three goals, making him one of the SPFL’s most exciting possibilities.

As much of a no-brainer as Barron’s signing is, he can talk about a pre-contract arrangement in January.

After watching teammate Luke McCowan sign with Celtic on deadline day, Cameron made a suggestion during the 3-0 loss to Rangers that he might see himself playing more frequently at Ibrox, according to The Courier:

To be honest, I think Luke and I had a great relationship in the middle of the pitch, so it is difficult.

We were aware of one another’s whereabouts, and he and I both undoubtedly had significant moments.

“So I think we just got on really well and knew what the other person was going to do.

“It was obviously difficult to lose him at that point in the season, but I believe we added some quality players.”

“Hopefully, they’ll do well after they settle in with the team and grasp the rules of the league.

Many of the boys we’ve added haven’t truly played in this level. It is a requirement that you have Premiership playing experience. I’ve been playing here for a few years now.

“Although I’m only 21, I’m among the team’s more seasoned players.

“I believe we’ll be alright once everyone gets a footing and we begin to understand one another.

“I have a lot of faith in my skills, and I believe I could contribute to a larger squad.

“It goes without saying that you wish you could join a team like this when you visit locations like Ibrox.

Naturally, your career would benefit greatly from it. So maybe I can continue to do it in the future.

Signing Cameron ought to be a top priority in January.

As one of Dundee’s key players and with over 100 SPFL matches under his belt, Cameron has demonstrated that he is prepared to follow McCowan and advance to a larger club.

When purchasing locally, one must consider whether the products are superior to those from Rangers’ own academy, who came through Auchenhowie.

Cameron would be compared to Cole McKinnon and Leon King, and the Dundee midfielder would always come out on top.

Would Cameron be paid more than Jose Cifuentes or Kieran Dowell if that were also the case?

Once more, the likelihood is that it is.

In addition, he would have less money.

Lyall Cameron is near the top of the list of young Scottish talents that Rangers should always be aware of when they become available.
