Rangers had problems throughout the summer, both on and off the pitch. Philippe Clement also had to deal with a few scandals.
In one of instances, Ianis Hagi was expelled from the first team squad and was expected to depart the club he paid £3 million to join, even though a transfer never happened.
The Romanian international was a frequent subject of questions for the management, but in an unexpected development, the 25-year-old is back in the starting lineup after holding his own with the B team.
Ianis Hagi is set to rejoin the Rangers first team.
Pictures showing Hagi back in training were posted on the Rangers official X page, and Clement will be happy to have put an end to a situation that had been going on for far too long.
The manager of the Gers is lacking attackers, and Hagi has shown that he can provide quantity.
According to Joshua Barrie of The Rangers Review, all parties concerned were eager to see Hagi return to the stage that his talent merits, hence the decision was made mutually:
“After discussion between the two parties with a desire to fix the matter indicated on either side, a solution has been found.
“Hagi has subsequently resumed first-team training in advance of the club’s remaining games prior to the impending international break in October.”
Hagi’s wish is fulfilled by the Rangers’ comeback.
Hagi became irate during the summer and took to social media to dispel rumours about his future and the football team he wanted to play for—Rangers, in his opinion—on social media:
“I am aware of the rumours and chatter around me, my position, and my contract with the team.
Since the day I arrived, I have enjoyed representing the Rangers and the Ibrox supporters.
I would like to clarify that I have never once requested to leave this football team.
“My team and I publicly conveyed this weeks ago, and I will always be available. If there is a will on both sides, there is always a way to get around any difficulty.
“Rangers, I’m here and willing.” Prepared to work, support, and defend the Club, Team, and Manager.”
Ianis Hagi should be brought back, as both Rabbi Matondo and Oscar Cortes are now sidelined due to injuries.
Hagi can play as a number eight or on the wing, even though Clement may not consider him a number 10.
For the foreseeable future, with games every midweek, having depth and good options to switch up could be essential to keeping things moving forward.
Although Hagi isn’t listed for the Europa League team, he should be able to play domestically as soon as this weekend when the team plays St Johnstone.
Arsene Wenger once said, “He’s almost like a new signing.”
