John Eustace is hoping that Rovers can take advantage of their packed schedule and win this weekend’s match against Plymouth fast.
Despite a solid start to the season, the head coach believes his team needs to grow from a difficult night at Coventry.
Rovers will hope to build on their victory over the Pilgrims going into the international break.
Eustace remarked, “We just weren’t at the races as a group.” “We weren’t good enough to play against a very good squad and have an impact.
“We need to grow from it, and this Saturday is a great chance for us to make amends.
“The freedom to play the way you want to must be earned. You can’t just show up, arrange the players, and hope for the best.
We still have a lot of work to do; after eight games, this is our first loss. We still have a lot of things to work on.
Although Coventry only won one of their first seven games this season, they had a poor start to the current campaign and finished ninth last term.
Eustace did not read much into the Sky Blues’ start and feels Mark Robins’ team have the quality to be in the mix this season.
He continued, “I believe they have had a rough start in the last few seasons and always come through it.” “They have an incredibly talented team and a very good manager there.”
It’s evident that they made four or five changes, and the new players cost millions of pounds. They possess a great deal of firepower and solid championship experience.
After Ian Foster was replaced in the dugout this summer, Wayne Rooney, who joined Plymouth, also had a difficult start to the season.
But with wins over Sunderland and Luton last month, the Devon club demonstrated growth.
Tuesday night, Rooney’s team lost 1-0 to Burnley, and with eight points, they are currently 17th in the standings.
As Rovers gear up for the lengthy journey South, it’s another quick turnaround, but Eustace is adamant that this is something this division needs to be capable of handling.
He went on, “That is the Championship, and we have to get used to it.” “I say that a lot, but there are some players that are 100 percent dedicated all the time.”
