Norwich City target 18-cap international amid contract standoff

According to Fanatik, Bright Osayi-Samuel of Fenerbahce is being pursued by a number of teams as he continues to demand a better wage in Turkey.

After a summer of upheaval, Norwich City is a team starting a new chapter.

Johannes Hoff Thorup joined as the new Canaries boss in the summer while there have been a flood of new faces arriving off the pitch in the club leadership too. To assist Thorup in further ingraining his concept into the operations at Carrow Road, they will be hoping for a fruitful January window.

There have been rumours of a player being watched in Norfolk, and the most recent international break may provide clubs an opportunity to line up some possible winter targets.

Norwich City is one among the teams reportedly keeping an eye on Fenerbahce star Bright Osayi-Samuel, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik. Amidst ambiguity surrounding the Nigerian star’s contract, French team RC Lens is also interested.

Osayi-Samuel’s contract expires in the summer, and although Fenerbahce is eager to come to a new arrangement, the former QPR player is demanding more money. A move in 2025 is conceivable given the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Return to England?

Fans of Norwich City are probably familiar with Osayi-Samuel.

The 26-year-old played for QPR for three and a half years after graduating from the Blackpool academy. While he was in this country, he primarily played as a winger; however, he has since relocated to Turkey, where he now plays both full-back and wing-back.

With Fenerbahce, the 18-time Nigerian international has had the opportunity to play football in Europe. In 145 appearances, he has contributed seven goals and fourteen assists.

The right back possibilities for canaries

There is an intriguing connection between Osayi-Samuel and Norwich City.

Kellen Fisher and Jack Stacey are the Canaries’ current right-back options. The latter has become a clear favourite and, should he continue at this level, may force some changes to the starting lineup.

As a result, there’s really no need for another candidate in that role. Osayi-Samuel might take up his former wing position again, or these speculations might not be very true.

It remains to be seen how the connections work out, but as January preparations begin to take shape, there will undoubtedly be a lot of rumours in the upcoming months.
