Patson Daka injury update with Steve Cooper cautious over Leicester City striker

After having surgery on his ankle following a collision in the team’s final preseason friendly against Lens in France, the Zambian has not been seen yet this season.

While Patson Daka is out on the grass at Seagrave Base for Leicester City, he is “nowhere near” returning to teammate training.

After getting hurt in City’s last preseason game against Lens, Daka had ankle surgery in the offseason. In a significant step towards his comeback, he was seen on the Seagrave lawn last week following several months of rehabilitation.

However, Steve Cooper, the manager, does not anticipate having the Zambian back in the lineup anytime soon. He has some work ahead of him before he is competitive.

Cooper stated, “I’m not sure on the timeline.” “He’s undoubtedly back on the pitch, but he hasn’t even approached team training yet. His recovery is going well, and the medical staff is quite pleased with his progress. He approaches whatever he does with a fantastic attitude as well. He intends to return as soon as his injury and body permit it.

Daka is one of City’s three injured players at the time. Returning to the turf at the training field to recuperate from a fractured foot he sustained early in the preseason is Jakub Stolarczyk. He will likely be absent for an additional four to six weeks.

There’s also Hamza Choudhury who is not there. He dislocated his shoulder during practice last week, and City is currently waiting for the injury to heal completely before doing a thorough evaluation. Choudhury is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks at most. In the worst situation, the midfield player might have to miss months of action.

Cooper will spend the next week and a half with a training squad consisting of 12 outfield players while 13 players are away on international duty. Conor Coady, James Justin, Jamie Vardy, Odsonne Edouard, Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks, Boubakary Soumare, Michael Golding, Will Alves, Stephy Mavididi, and Jamie Vardy are the ones listed.

“The work continues during the international break,” Cooper continued. I’ll be totally engrossed in Southampton. This week will undoubtedly be less demanding because there won’t be any Premier League games to prepare for or play in, but there will still be work to be done. Many boys are leaving, but many boys are remaining too. We will create a program for them and make every effort to continue when we return.
