The international break is coming to an end, and Celtic fans will be eager to watch their team play again this weekend.
In contrast to previous times when club football is overlooked, Celtic won a late game at the Showgrounds last week after travelling to Sligo Rovers for a friendly, thanks to Luis Palma.
However, aside from instances where the Bhoys were called up for international service to play for their respective countries, there hasn’t been much talk about the Scottish Premiership winners lately.
But this Saturday, when the Hoops play Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership for first place, the attention will finally return to all things Celtic.
Before we all focus on the box office performance, it’s important to highlight some positive news about one of Brendan Rodgers’ eight summer acquisitions.
When Auston Trusty represents the United States
Celtic defender Auston Trusty made his first appearance on the international level since June 2023 when he came off the bench for the United States against Mexico in the early hours of the morning.
He only made one further appearance for the Stars and Stripes, which brought his total number of caps to three, against Canada and Grenada in the CONCACAF Nations League.
Unfortunately, goals from Raul Jimenez and Cesar Huerta caused his team to lose 2-0 in Guadulajara. For the last 10 minutes, Trusty replaced Antonee Robinson after coming off the bench.
However, his appearance marks a major advancement under Mauricio Pochettino’s new leadership. In the past, Trusty was only granted a watching brief instead of the opportunity to lead the USA to victory over Panama.
Auston Trusty’s Celtic development following his transfer to Sheffield United
Trusty, who is naturally left-footed, has had a difficult time since joining Celtic because he must play on the right side of central defender.
All things considered, though, the former Sheffield United player is adjusting to Glasgow life and appears to be a wise addition to the backline.
Trusty’s impressive performance in Celtic’s triumph over Ross County on Sunday gave a taste of what he could contribute to the team going forward.
The American’s next challenge will be to break Liam Scales’ and Cameron Carter-Vickers’ grip on the two central defensive spots during the Bhoys’ upcoming schedule, which he will undoubtedly enjoy.
