Unseen Sunderland signing scores winning goal in midweek international clash

In the middle of the week, the Sunderland midfielder appeared on his nation’s score sheet.
Milan Aleksic, a summer transfer from Sunderland, scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday night’s 1-0 victory over Ukraine for the Serbia U21s.

Although the midfielder has not yet made an appearance for Wearside’s first team, Regis Le Bris has included him in several matchday squads and sent him out to play for his nation in each of the international breaks this season. He was not utilised as a substitute for Serbia’s senior team last month, but he made an impression this time around by scoring a game-winning goal in a U21 European Championship qualifier.

Halfway through the first half, Aleksic scored after applying intense pressure that caused Ukraine’s defence to make a mistake. He then slotted home coolly after latching onto a ball from Jovan Mijatovic.

Expectations are high for Aleksic’s eventual influence on Wearside, despite the patience with which he is being incorporated into the first team picture at the Stadium of Light. “Milan is very young, talented, and still discovering Sunderland and the league,” Sunderland head coach Le Bris stated in a statement last month. However, he is a really talented midfield player, and I believe he is an offensive midfielder. He has the potential to link with short passes, be creative, and, I believe, shoot and score from beyond the box. He is a truly captivating athlete.

Aleksic recently played for Sunderland U21s as well, and academy coach Graeme Murty described the teenager’s future goals. “We would like to see more of him,” he remarked. Along with every member of the first team, we want to give him a stage on which to play.

We continue to state that we are a willing conduit for those men to enter the minutes in order to get insight, become fit for the game, and sharpen their skills. Additionally, we want to ensure that our younger players have the chance to play with them and demonstrate their abilities.
