Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup has stated that Josh Sargent will miss eight weeks due to a groin injury.
On Saturday, many of the Canaries’ normal starters were sidelined. Against Cardiff City, Sargent, Anis Ben Slimane, Angus Gunn, and Marcelino Nunez were all absent.
They came so close to winning their trip to the Welsh capital, but two late goals destroyed all of Norwich’s hard work before and after another of Borja Sainz’s incredible goals, and they didn’t learn anything from the game.
Many of the younger players in this match, including 18-year-old Oscar Schwartu and Gabriel Forsyth, who were in the starting lineup, will have suffered a setback by losing their advantage so late in the game. However, that is now behind them, and their attention is on preparing for their Hillsborough game against Sheffield Wednesday.
Even though the Owls have just suffered a frustrating loss, their 6-2 loss has caused more embarrassment than rage.
After the defeat to Cardiff, Hoff Thorup stated that none of the injured players would return for Wednesday night’s game. However, some unfavourable news regarding their star American striker has made their injury problems even worse.
Josh Sargent will be absent for eight weeks.
Due to surgery for a groin injury he sustained before Saturday’s game, Sargent will be out for eight weeks.
It was anticipated that he would be sidelined until after the forthcoming international break, but it now seems more likely that the 24-year-old will return in the new year.
Regarding Sargent’s injury, the Danish manager stated, “We are talking eight weeks because it is going to require surgery.”
He had to break some bad injury news in addition to this. Forsyth will also miss the Wednesday game, he disclosed. His second start of the season caused him to get knee soreness, which is the cause of this.
With so many players out of commission, Norwich is approaching their maximum. Hoff Thorup has stated that Jacob Lungi Sorensen will have to start on Wednesday due to the severity of the injury issue.
The manager claims that City had to alter their lineup due to the loss of players like Sargent. The American has been replaced by Ante Crnac, which means Norwich will no longer be able to play the over-the-top ball into Sargent’s path.
“Everything needs to change, including our team’s current position and the players that are available. Regarding the Croatian striker, Hoff Thorup stated, “We need to find the best position for each player to bring their quality and personality.”
Norwich is fortunate to have Borja Sainz playing so well.
The genius of Borja is one of the primary, if not the primary, reasons the Canaries have been gaining ground despite all of these fitness issues.
Nine of his eleven league goals so far this season have come in his past eight outings.
In his pre-Wednesday press conference, the City manager discussed offering the 23-year-old a new deal. His present contract is set to end in the summer of 2026.
Even while his current style of play is deserving of new, better terms, it is worth much more than that. Just his goals have directly added nine points to Norwich’s total, which is half of what they now have.
Had he not been there, they might have been near the bottom. However, they are the fortunate ones who have him.
