The team for Sunderland’s Wednesday night matchup against Preston North End has been announced.
On Wednesday night, when the Black Cats play Preston North End at Deepdale, Chris Rigg will be back in the Sunderland starting lineup.
After missing Saturday’s 0-0 draw with QPR because of a chest injury, Rigg immediately returns to the team in place of the suspended Jobe Bellingham.
The child’s prompt comeback was made possible by his return to full training on Monday.
Regis Le Bris surprised everyone by giving Tommy Watson and Aaron Connolly their first starts for Sunderland. Rigg’s return is one of three changes to the Sunderland starting lineup.
As a result, Romaine Mundle and Patrick Roberts have been benched. Bellingham’s ban has put young midfielder Harrison Jones on the bench once more.
Sunderland starting lineup: Moore; Watson Connolly, Isidor; Hume, Mepham, O’Nien, Cirkin; Neil, Rigg, Browne Substitutes: Ballard, Mundle, Mayenda, Hjelde, Jones, Roberts, Noukeu, and Rusyn
