After tweeting about Celtic’s difficulties when they give up first in European competitions, BBC Scotland found themselves in a difficult situation on Tuesday night.
However, the Hoops quickly turned the tide of the match. Nikolas Kuhn equalised just six minutes after the tweet, which pointed out that Celtic had lost 27 of their previous 28 European games after falling down, and it led to an incredible comeback victory over RB Leipzig, 3-1.
The post’s timing couldn’t have been worse because it was out of date nearly instantly.
Kuhn scored twice for Celtic in response to Christophe Baumgartner’s first goal, the first a spectacular effort off the post and the second a clinical finish from Greg Taylor’s cross just before halftime.
When Reo Hatate took advantage of a goalkeeping mistake by Peter Gulacsi to seal the victory, the electrifying atmosphere at Parkhead reached new heights.
In addition to quelling the early speculation, the triumph gave Celtic their third straight Champions League home victory—the second of the season—and increased their point total to seven from four games.
Celtic’s chances of moving forward in the competition are improving with four games remaining, and their tenacity on Tuesday demonstrated their increasing experience on the European scene.
It will be less than three weeks before Club Brugge visits Parkhead.
