RANGERS IN POLE POSITION TO SIGN LAWRENCE SHANKLAND

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Rangers are in the lead to sign Hearts attacker Lawrence Shankland during the January transfer window.

Senior journalist Pete O’Rourke stated that there is a “real possibility” that Hearts may try to cash in on the 29-year-old in an interview with the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

Although Shankland’s contract with Hearts is set to expire at the conclusion of this season, the team has been adamant about wanting to keep him on for the long haul.

Hearts may try to close a deal in January at a discount because Rangers are anticipated to be first in line in the summer to sign him on a free transfer.

Given that Hearts would make some money and Rangers would need to bolster their squad, a potential midseason transfer is viewed as a “win-win situation” for both teams.

However, it is anticipated that the Light Blues will be prepared to finalise a deal next summer if the two teams are unable to reach an agreement in January.

Lawrence Shankland would be an accomplished player for the Rangers.

Shankland, who has a wealth of Scottish Premiership experience, has one goal and four assists in 18 games for the Jambos this season in all competitions.

Over his career, the Hearts skipper has made 123 appearances in the Scottish top division, contributing 17 assists and 50 goals.

Philippe Clement’s choices may be improved by his attacking prowess as the Gers attempt to go closer to Celtic.

Rangers’ current financial constraints would make it ideal for the team to sign Shankland on a low-cost contract.

According to the Scottish powerhouses’ most recent annual report, the team is losing £17.2 million, which means there isn’t a lot of money available for transfers.

According to Football Insider, Celtic is now winning the transfer hunt for Lennon Miller, and Rangers cannot afford him.
