Philippe Clement’s wishful thinking as he comments on the gap between Celtic and Rangers

Celtic’s 4-1 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle in the Scottish Premiership puts them 11 points clear of Rangers.

Before the late kickoff in Edinburgh, Celtic was winning games against Rangers and Aberdeen, so Brendan Rodgers knew that a win against Hearts would widen the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.

Following their 2-1 loss at St. Mirren, Celtic’s 4-1 victory over Hearts puts the Bhoys three points ahead of Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen.

Additionally, the win puts Rodgers 11 points ahead of Rangers, who lost to Dundee United 1-1 at Ibrox under Philippe Clement.

When questioned about why Rangers supporters have given up on winning the championship, Clement acknowledges the distance from Celtic and expresses some optimism for the upcoming campaign.

Philippe Clement acknowledges that Celtic and Rangers have a “big” difference.
“Fans can think whatever they want,” Clement told the Daily Record. They also have that right. If something is impossible, I never quit up.

“Everyone sees what I see in the second half, and I see what I see in the second half as well. Over the next few months, we’ll need that level considerably more and score a lot more points.

It’s a significant difference, of course, and you never know how many points other teams will drop in the process.

However, we must score more points. You see, we will score more points if we play the way we did in the second half.

Brendan Rodgers, Manager of Celtic, acknowledges the fans following the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD4 match between Celtic FC and ...

“But I said in the dressing room that we need to make that a standard for the team, for everyone.”

Clement is living in a fantasy world if he believes Rangers will go undefeated and Celtic will actually lose four games this season.

Even while nothing is impossible, this Celtic club suddenly appears to be unstoppable, particularly given the depth Rodgers has added to his roster.

How Celtic can successfully wrap up Rangers’ season before February As Brendan Rodgers attempts to defend his title and advance in the Champions League, Celtic’s calendar is quickly getting busy and chaotic.

However, given Clement’s team’s ongoing struggles, Celtic could terminate Rangers’ season domestically.

In just over three weeks, Rangers will play in the League Cup final. If Rodgers wins that, he will be able to put further pressure on the Belgian and add another Glasgow Derby to his resume.

Following that, Celtic will next play Rangers in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox. If both teams win their remaining games, Celtic would have 14 points more than the Ibrox club after another victory on Glasgow’s south side.

With the Scottish Cup still up for grabs, Rangers might not have the stamina to even challenge for that lead, which would be unbeatable.

While Rangers fans continue to suffer, Celtic supporters are ecstatic at this early point in the season.
