Plans for the match against Aberdeen next week are impacted.
As Hearts reflected on their 4-1 loss to Celtic at Tynecastle Park on Saturday, they discovered that defender James Penrice had been suspended. He was given his sixth yellow card of the season and will not play in the Premiership encounter against Aberdeen on Sunday.
Penrice will be suspended when Aberdeen visits Gorgie after receiving a warning for tripping Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn in the 71st minute of the match. According to Scottish FA disciplinary regulations, he must now miss one Premiership game after receiving six bookings in the season’s first 19 games.
Previously, bans took effect within 14 days, but now they take effect within seven days. “The suspension applies in the same league competition as the cautionable offences were incurred and is effective from the seventh day following the date of the match when the sixth cautionable offence occurred,” according to the SFA’s Judicial Panel Protocol.
Penrice can attend Thursday’s away match against Cercle Brugge in the UEFA Conference League, but he will have to watch from the stands at Tynecastle on Sunday. In his 18 games since moving from Livingston to Hearts in the summer, the left-back has continuously performed well and is already well-liked by many fans. The favourite to start as left-back against Aberdeen is Stephen Kingsley.
