Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the former manager of Rangers, has apparently been fired.
According to reports, Besiktas leaders have freed the former Ibrox manager of his responsibilities.
The 29-year-old Dutch manager Van Bronckhorst signed a two-year contract with the possibility of a third season in the Super Lig with the Turkish team in June.
Fanatik, however, claims that Besiktas has now fired Van Bronckhorst. According to the publication, Van Bronckhorst will depart the club following Friday’s board meeting.
It is believed that negotiations are still going on to finalise his termination. The decision was made just one day after Maccabi Tel-Aviv’s Europa League defeat.
Besiktas is ranked 22nd in the Europa League league phase standings and sixth in the Super Lig rankings.
Although it is anticipated that Van Bronckhorst will depart Besiktas, the club just issued a statement on Friday to acknowledge a surprise boardroom departure.
Hasan Arat, the club’s chairman, has stepped down, and the vice-chairman will take over until further notice.
According to a club statement: “Dear Beşiktaş supporters,
On November 29, 2024, the Beşiktaş JK Board of Directors met and decided on the following:
“We have accepted Mr. Hasan Arat’s resignation as our chairman of the board of directors.
