Derek Ferguson believes that Robin Propper’s body language during Rangers’ 1-0 victory over St Johnstone in the first half shows that he is already trying to find a way out of the team.
Ferguson notes that the defender, who has already acknowledged that he is struggling in the Scottish Premiership, was limping from an injury early in the first half of the Perth match, which ended without a goal.
Ferguson’s description of Propper’s situation on BBC Sportsound was cited by BBC Sport’s live text [1 December]. Despite only joining from FC Twente in the summer, the former Gers player called his first half performance “worrying” and expressed that he might already be interested in a move.
“Propper is having trouble. Over the past few weeks, he has made it clear that he is struggling in our league, Ferguson remarked.
The question has been posed to him from the beginning. Seeing him struggle that much is really concerning.
“Observe his body language; he’s already trying to find a way out.”
Rangers’ Robin Propper is having trouble staying consistent.
If Propper was not previously aware, the pressure has come at his door in full force since his arrival from the Netherlands.
Given the dismal season the team has had thus far, that is the expected outcome of wearing the Rangers uniform.
Propper, 31, demonstrated his ability in recent games against Nice and Dundee United, but the season is yet salvageable for both him and his team.
Propper was immediately given a lot of seniority when he entered the dressing room since Nils Koppen had spearheaded the summer recruitment of several younger players to replace more seasoned leaders.
Although Propper’s mindset seems to have been questioned in this situation, it is entirely up to him to live up to the expectations, as many players have failed to do so over the years while playing at Ibrox.
