Paddy Davitt: Canaries player ratings from Luton comeback

Johannes Hoff Thorup’s Norwich City, who are still dominating the Championship at Carrow Road, is rated by Paddy Davitt.

Gunn, Angus 6

Despite being a part of a defence that was put under strain after Luton’s early second-half equaliser, City was mostly in control and had 69 percent of the possession. collision with Elijah Adebayo, who courageously attempted a cross from Carlton Morris.

With neither Luton goal, there was no opportunity. Pay attention to Shandon Baptiste’s near-post low cross. When Luton players were closing in and Jacob Brown’s delivery went straight across his six-yard box due to Kenny McLean’s cheap giveaway, he had to ride his luck.

8 Jack Stacey

Since he remembered, some have responded. In addition to having four assists in the last three games, he helped set up Borja Sainz’s game-winning goal earlier.

He demonstrated his defensive prowess in the 39th minute by stopping Tahith Chong with a well-timed tackle and then wanting to get on the end of the counter to win a corner.

The same player’s earlier strike was deflected over Angus Gunn’s bar by a crucial sliding block. Complete dedication to hooking the ball back for Ante Crnac to dispatch after chasing Chong towards his own byline.

7 Shane Duffy

Adebayo squared up for the opener, which was positioned beneath the approaching Gunn. However, his powerful header was only stopped in the 43rd minute by a fantastic reaction stop by Thomas Kaminski at the back post.

In the 81st minute, his spirit of adventure took him deep into Luton territory before Crnac swerved past Mark McGuinness and picked out Emi Marcondes with an angled ball.

Callum Doyle 7

appears to be much more at ease playing with the seasoned Shane Duffy in that defensive unit, within the breadth of his own 18-yard box.

Outstanding tracking followed by a prompt challenge on Morris, who appeared to be the choice to attack Adebayo’s cross in the seventeenth minute. In the 71st minute, Morris attempted to pivot and move 20 yards out, but Sharp again closed the door on him.

Fisher, Kellen 6

Re-entering the starting lineup immediately following a one-match suspension demonstrated Thorup’s confidence in the young player and the speed at which he is improving. Brown pounced on a poor header down in the fourth minute, but his angled attempt was misdirected.

However, the combat in the close quarters was tigerish once more. used an early calling card to catch Daiki Hashioka.

Kenny McLean 6

In an attempt to parry Anis Ben Slimane’s glancing near post flick into the centre of his own six-yard box, he scrambled backwards and was unable to change his feet in time, allowing Brown to loft a rising equaliser into the net.

After a quick exchange with Marcondes, Amankwah Forson strangled his left-footed attempt.

In the first half, Brown robbed Sloppy in stoppage time close to the touchline, but the cross eluded many Luton players who were rushing into the six-yard box. Morris was stopped in the last moments by a superb smothering tackle.

6 Anis Ben Slimane

He just misjudged his angles during a deep phase buildup, causing Jordan Clark to divert his intended pass back, which Adebayo then pounced on to complete.

However, his response to Crnac’s equaliser a few minutes later, in which Teden Mengi’s clip allowed Marcondes to pressure Kaminski and Forson to touch the ball to the Croatian, was one of relief. The tenacious Luton equaliser was also the result of his near post defensive flick. Sainz, who skied over, was set for in the 51st minute.

Emi Marcondes 8

If he keeps up this kind of impact and offensive productivity, it will require some line-up changing. Five minutes in, a brilliant turnover created a huge opportunity for Sainz, who came close to post and found the side netting.

then turned to target Forson, who shot tamely ineffectively. In order to get City back to parity, Forson recycled a feeble effort at a punch after Kaminski’s nuisance value. In the 26th minute, Sainz was brought on again, but Amari’i Bell closed the door. Duffy met the deep corner, but Kaminski stopped the Irishman.

When he held his run and had a straightforward slot eight yards away from Crnac’s precise square ball in the 81st minute, he finally received his particular reward.

Forson, Amankwah Π 6

Don’t undervalue the touch that put City back on equal footing with Crnac. threw away a previous shot. With Jack Stacey wandering on the overlap, his recent addition to the team has undoubtedly opened up a creative seam.

Ante Crnac      9

The Croatian had a big statement week. scored three goals in two home games and, in Thorup’s opinion, provided a memorable assist with the selfless selection of Marcondes. It was no accident that both of his Luton goals occurred in the same central region of the penalty box.

had a lot to accomplish when the ball was squirted in his direction by Forson’s boot. A thunderous half-volley through Luton bodies follows one touch to control and one to adjust to enhance the angle. His second narrowly missed the diving Mengi, but he was so confident his teammate Stacey could save what seemed to be a hopeless situation.

He was a little faster than McGuinness to touch the ball around the defender and then maintained his composure to square for Marcondes, which was a similar initial trigger movement to his Plymouth goal midweek for Norwich’s third goal.

Borja Sainz 7

Although his Plymouth hat-trick performance did not make headlines, his persistence paid off as he was picked out by Onel Hernandez to slot 10 yards away for his 15th Championship goal of the season. He looked for work to avoid the Luton defenders’ careful scrutiny, but he wasn’t always successful. Now that his reputation is so high, he will need to get used to this.

When the angle narrowed in the fifth minute, he smacked a shot into the side netting, sending radar off. Bell denied twice before halftime. Shortly after the restart, he took a low shot at Kaminski from outside the box.

failed to deflect Stacey’s cross goalwards as he slid in at the back post in the 51st minute.

Subs

Forson (for Onel Hernandez, 62) 7

As Thorup has mentioned when he tries to introduce the Cuban, chaos theory comes up again. Two minutes after arriving, he picked up a booking for leaving a bit on Bell to indicate his intention. When Stacey discovered that he needed to get on the outside of the full back and drill a low cross for Sainz to slot, he had only one idea.

For Slimane, Marcelino Nunez (74) 6

Greetings on your injury-free return. It’s acceptable to overlook the errant free kick he made right after arriving. However, Stacey’s move to set up Hernandez and then Sainz for the Norwich fourth showed metronomic accuracy once more.
