Rangers could agree pre-contract with Aberdeen ace Jack MacKenzie

As Jack MacKenzie’s contract at Pittodrie comes to an end, Daily Record journalist Scott McDermott has urged Rangers to recruit the Aberdeen left-back.

McDermott urged the Gers to begin negotiating a pre-contract with the Scottish full-back, whose contract with the Dons expires in June.

According to McDermott’s Sunday Mail piece on December 1, page 60, Nils Koppen ought to be negotiating with the defender in order to bring him in for free.

Given that MacKenzie seemed “unlikely to sign a new deal at Pittodrie” before the winter window opens, the journalist called a possible transaction a “no-brainer.”

Jack MacKenzie from Aberdeen may sign a pre-contract with Rangers.

With Ridvan Yilmaz and Jefte already available for Philippe Clement, the Gers do have a lot of left-back alternatives.

Nevertheless, Koppen wants to make his mark on the team, thus a January move for the Aberdeen player would make sense.

The Belgian is eager to add more Scottish talent to Ibrox, and he could do far worse than signing MacKenzie on a free transfer.

The Light Blues are able to at least start talking about a possible move because Scot will only have six months left on his present contract.

Since Connor Barron joined over the summer, Rangers have experience acquiring big-name players from the Dons on free transfers.

This might facilitate an approach at Pittodrie and demonstrate to the 24-year-old that Govan has a clear path to being a consistent starter.
