Rangers ace who made 54 apps in 23/24 mooted to leave Ibrox as Clement stance emerges

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers could be on his way out of Ibrox as manager Philippe Clement has reportedly shifted his perspective on the Nigerian forward, according to Soccernet.ng.

The outlet revealed on 6 December that Clement, whose own position at the club remains uncertain [TEAMtalk, 26 November], no longer views the 29-year-old as a central part of his plans.

This development follows Dessers’ impressive performance last season, where he featured in 54 matches across all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing nine assists.

Should Dessers depart, it could signal that the Rangers board is backing Clement’s long-term vision for the team, despite questions surrounding the manager’s future. Such a decision might be interpreted as a show of confidence in Clement, though it comes with potential risks.

If Clement were to leave or if his tactics fail to deliver, selling a proven goal-scorer like Dessers could leave Rangers vulnerable. Offloading the striker in January without securing a superior replacement would be a significant misstep that the club must avoid.
