Aberdeen ‘irked’ at Connor Barron transfer wrangle with Rangers

Aberdeen are reportedly frustrated by the prolonged SPFL tribunal process regarding Connor Barron’s free transfer to Rangers.

The Scotland midfielder joined Rangers during the summer after his contract with Aberdeen expired. Philippe Clement quickly secured the services of one of the country’s brightest young talents. However, with both clubs unable to agree on compensation, a tribunal was called in September to determine the development fee Aberdeen should receive for their academy graduate.

Despite the tribunal’s involvement, a resolution has yet to be reached. Speaking at Aberdeen’s AGM, CEO Alan Burrows expressed the club’s growing impatience over the delay.

Barron, now 22, has been one of Rangers’ standout performers this season. Ahead of their 4-1 Europa League win over OGC Nice, Barron addressed the media, reflecting on the team’s need to improve after a disappointing performance against Dundee United.

“We’re all on the same page that it wasn’t good enough, and we’ve got to bounce back on Thursday,” he said. “We’re in this together, and everyone takes responsibility. It’s not down to one person—we all have to pull our weight. The gaffer has been positive, and we’re ready to move on and deliver on Thursday Night.”
