The Light Blues are searching the January discounts for deals.
Borna Barisic, a former Rangers defender, is said to have suggested to the Ibrox powerbrokers a move for Marko Soldo, a midfielder for NK Osijek.
As the winter window draws near, Nils Koppen and Philippe Clement are reportedly keeping an eye on the versatile 21-year-old sensation and searching for potential January deals. Koppen is reportedly a fan of the £2 million star, according to the Daily Mail, with “a bid in January looking increasingly likely.”
Barisic, who left the Scottish Premiership for Trabzonspor last summer, is also said to have strongly recommended that the Ibrox decision-makers sign Soldo when the winter transfer window opens, according to Croatian reports. Soldo can cover a more defensive gap, but there are also plans to assault. According to reports, Rangers is one of the teams interested in signing Leeds United attacker Joe Gelhardt, but the deal will be difficult to close.
Under Daniel Farke, Gelhardt has seldom played this season, making four appearances off the bench and just starting in the EFL Cup match against Middlesborough in August. The Light Blues “offer the prospect of a change of scene,” according to the Daily Mail, although they will have to contend with Preston North End, Portsmouth, Stoke City, Plymouth, and QPR.
On the other hand, it appears that Alex Lowry’s time at Ibrox is running out. The 21-year-old was demoted to the Colts team and hasn’t played for the first team since December 2023.
He is not likely to be recalled, as his contract expires in the summer. According to the Daily Mail, “Lowry’s race at Ibrox looks to be done.”
