Sunderland forward Nazariy Rusyn is reportedly attracting transfer interest this month, with Ukrainian club FC LNZ Cherkasy said to be in discussions to secure his services.
The 26-year-old has struggled to make an impact at the Stadium of Light this season, featuring for just 66 minutes across eight substitute appearances in the Championship. His only start of the campaign came in a Carabao Cup loss to Preston North End in August.
Amid limited opportunities under Black Cats head coach Regis Le Bris, speculation about a potential departure has grown. When asked about Rusyn’s future during a recent press conference, Le Bris offered a cautious response, stating: “It depends on the player. For Naz, he was involved in the last game, so he’s still connected with us. He works hard every day.”
Despite the manager’s reserved comments, reports from Ukraine indicate that LNZ Cherkasy are pursuing the striker. According to TaToTake via Zorya Londonsk, talks are underway regarding a potential loan move. The deal’s structure, including the possibility of a buyout option, remains unclear. The interest comes after both LNZ Cherkasy and fellow Ukrainian club FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv were linked with the player last month.
Rusyn joined Sunderland from Zorya Lugansk in 2023 on a four-year deal but has struggled to secure a regular place in the lineup. Over 32 appearances in all competitions, he has registered just two goals and one assist. Cherkasy’s new manager, Roman Hryhorchuk, who previously coached Rusyn at Chornomorets in 2022, could play a pivotal role in a potential reunion.
