Hearts is one of the teams in negotiations to sign Islam Chesnokov, a winger for Kazakhstan. A six-figure deal has been discussed with his club, Tobol Kostanay, but the Tynecastle team has other targets in that position as well.

The 25-year-old Chesnokov has two goals and 11 caps for his nation. He has made 63 appearances since joining Tobol in 2023, tallying 19 goals and dishing out 10 assists. His contract is set to end in November, therefore he will undoubtedly depart the Kazakh team this year. Yaroslav Zvarych, the player’s agent, discussed negotiations with the Edinburgh News. “Hearts are showing interest. We have a lot of offers, so we are currently making a lot of decisions,” he stated. “With the transfer window open, we are working on the next step, and Islam is one of Kazakhstan’s most talented players.” We are presently in the bargaining stage regarding Hearts’ offer. We do communicate with them, and they show interest. We’ve already started working with them.

Islam is an incredibly talented and fascinating player. He puts in a lot of effort and possesses a strong left foot and shooting. He would fit right in with Scottish football. He has made a name for himself as one of Kazakhstan’s top players and is highly technical. He is a right-winger who prefers to play in the middle and is more of an inverted winger.

Chesnokov was recognised as a player who may grow in the Scottish division thanks to Hearts’ collaboration with sports recruitment company Jamestown Analytics. Last month, Kilmarnock reportedly showed interest in him. He has also been watched by Turkish team Kasımpaşa and Hungarian club Kisvárda. Hearts have discussed a pre-contract deal with Danny Armstrong of Kilmarnock and are looking to add a wide man to their roster.

The Edinburgh club is now in negotiations with Michael Steinwender’s Swedish team, IFK Varnamo, with hopes of acquiring the Austrian centre back. This month, Hearts has acquired centre-back Jamie McCart on a permanent contract from Rotherham United and forward Elton Kabangu on loan from Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium.
