According to Darren Witcoop, Norwich City has enquired about a potential trade for Ricky-Jade Jones, a forward for Peterborough United.
During the summer transfer window, Norwich City made some bold acquisitions, and it appears that further additions are planned for this winter as well.
After a successful first half of the season on loan from Sheffield United, Anis Slimane has signed a permanent contract, while Lewis Dobbin has joined on a temporary basis. In an attempt to move up the Championship table in 2025, Johannes Hoff Thorup will be keen to leave his mark on the team.
The Canaries are now aware of a new name.
According to Darren Witcoop’s article on X, Norwich City appears to have entered the competition for Ricky-Jade Jones, a forward for Peterborough United. The Norfolk team has made an inquiry after Cardiff City’s offer was rejected.
Witcoop adds that Jones has admirers overseas as well, though no names are given.
Even if the 22-year-old leaves Peterborough United when his contract expires, he would still be able to obtain a respectable compensation amount because he was raised at their development academy.
Additional information about Jones
Jones’ lightning-fast speed has caused havoc for many League One defenders over the years, and he can play as a striker or on the left wing.
Born in the city, the Peterborough United academy graduate has only ever played for the Posh. He has scored 11 goals and provided three assists in 31 games this season, bringing his total to 35 goals and 11 assists in 177 games with the team. Over the last two seasons, his performance has increased.
With his unpolished physical traits and occasionally subpar final output, Jones has an air of a “unpolished gem.” Higher levels are interested in him, though, because he is demonstrating that he can now contribute goals in a respectable manner.
Thorup’s choices for attack
Adding a guy like Jones to Norwich City’s roster this month is definitely possible.
Along with Josh Sargent and Ante Crnac, he would be another option at the top of the pitch, but he could also play on the left. With Dobbin merely on loan and Borja Sainz receiving praise for his standout performances, such wide-ranging talent might be useful.
With some astute coaching, Jones, who is currently 22 years old, might develop into a very potent attacker.
