If Rangers lose against Aberdeen on Wednesday, Tam McManus thinks they might fire Philippe Clement.
The Belgian is still employed despite all the criticism when the Gers visit the Dons at Ibrox on January 15.
His team is currently a staggering 15 points behind league leaders Celtic in the SPFL standings.
At 10:28, McManus said on PLZ Soccer: “I think you might see the axe fall if Wednesday night comes and they don’t win the game. Throughout the season, he has just followed that strategy. We’re still developing. We don’t have much money.
“He needs to keep winning games because I don’t think managers get long-term projects anymore, especially at Rangers.”
“He buys himself some time if he continues to win games, but I believe he’s only one win away from the axe falling, and that could be Wednesday night.”
Regardless of the outcome, Philippe Clement should leave Rangers.
Any manager would be fired for having such poor away performance and trailing Celtic by 15 points in January.
Nevertheless, despite a significant shift in the boardroom, Clement continues to receive stays of execution, and the Belgian’s employment is still secure.
Although Patrick Stewart has acknowledged that the team’s performance needs to improve, he has seen little improvement during the season.
The atmosphere at Ibrox during the match versus Aberdeen and whether or not the home team is playing better are still to be determined.
The team’s road performance has been the issue all season, not their home performance, and as of right now, no one is sure because of the board’s decision-making.
In the event that they determine it is time to fire the Belgian, they must have backup plans ready to go to Ibrox.
