RANGERS WORK ON DEAL TO SIGN SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP MIDFIELDER STAR

Rangers are reportedly pursuing a deal to sign Lyall Cameron from Dundee FC, according to Sky Sports.

In an update shared via their live transfer blog on Tuesday (14 January, 4:04 pm), the broadcaster revealed that the Light Blues are eager to secure a pre-contract agreement with the midfielder, who has also attracted interest from clubs abroad.

With Cameron entering the final six months of his contract, Dundee would be entitled to a compensation fee should he depart on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Rangers manager Patrick Stewart is expected to act swiftly to finalize a deal for the 22-year-old, similar to last summer’s free transfer acquisition of Connor Barron from Aberdeen.

Cameron has been a standout performer for Dundee, contributing eight goals and seven assists in 27 appearances across all competitions. While the club would prefer to retain the Scotland Under-21 international, they may have to accept a compensation fee if he opts to join Rangers.

Rangers, keen to avoid losing out to other interested parties, may prioritize sealing an agreement for Cameron sooner rather than later. There’s also a possibility that Philippe Clement could bring the midfielder to Govan during the current transfer window, though the club’s focus seems to be on arranging a free transfer for the summer.
