Now, they aim to secure a third consecutive league win since the start of the year. Friday’s match could also mark the debut of midfielder Enzo Le Fee, with Le Bris confirming he is fit and ready.
Additionally, there’s speculation about new signings ahead of Friday’s game at Turf Moor, with Sunderland reportedly leading the race for Tom Cannon. Burnley and Sheffield United are also keen on the player, but Sunderland appear the most determined.
Rabbi Matondo Linked with Sunderland Amid Rangers Omission
Sunderland are also linked with Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo. Reports on Wednesday suggested the Black Cats are interested in the Wales international, who has contributed two goals and two assists in six Scottish Premiership appearances this season. However, Matondo has reportedly agreed to join an unnamed European club.
Matondo was absent from Rangers’ squad during their 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox. Manager Philippe Clement explained his decision, saying, “I made a sporting choice today to include two young players (Bailey Rice and Zakariya Lovelace) on the bench as they are currently performing better.”
Matondo’s Potential Price Tag
Matondo appears out of favor at Rangers, and his reported £2 million price tag could make him an affordable option for Championship sides. For Sunderland, who are rumored to be prepared to spend £13 million on Cannon, a loan move for Matondo might be more feasible.
