Ruben Amorim has claimed that Rangers will be facing the “worst Manchester United team in history” in their upcoming Europa League clash at Old Trafford.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager, who took charge of Manchester United in early November, has overseen just two wins from ten Premier League matches so far.

After the Red Devils’ 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at home, Amorim criticized his team, calling them the “worst ever” in the club’s 147-year history.

These remarks come ahead of Rangers’ visit to Old Trafford for a highly anticipated Europa League match this Thursday.

Rangers to face ‘worst Manchester United team ever’ “In ten Premier League games, we’ve won two,” Amorim said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “Imagine what this is like for a Manchester United fan. Imagine what it’s like for me. So, we’re getting a new coach who’s losing more than the previous one. I’m fully aware of that.

“As I’ve said, I won’t change, no matter what. I know we can succeed, but we need to survive this moment. I’m not naive, and I know we need to push through this difficult time.

“We may be the worst team in Manchester United’s history. I know you want headlines, but I’m saying this because we must acknowledge it and change it.

“There you go, your headlines.”

These comments come as Manchester United sit in 13th place in the Premier League, having won only five of their 12 league matches at Old Trafford this season.

Amorim was asked whether his team will need time to adjust to his tactics, to which he replied that he will not change his style for the Rangers match. The former Sporting Lisbon boss warned that both the players and fans will “suffer” until results improve and his 3-4-3 system is fully embraced.

“That is clear,” said Amorim. “With me, that’s clear. I won’t change the way I see the game. I’m very certain of that.

“The players are going to suffer, I’m sorry, the fans are going to suffer. I have one way of doing things, and I know it’s going to bring results.

“But we need to endure these tough moments. It’s very clear to everyone what we are going to do.”

Rangers to miss key player at Old Trafford Rangers, led by Philippe Clement, will be hoping to cause an upset against Manchester United in the Europa League this week.

However, they will be without influential midfielder Mohamed Diomande for the match, as the Ivorian, 23, is suspended after receiving his third yellow card of the group stage in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Diomande has started all but one of Rangers’ six Europa League games this season, coming on as a substitute at halftime in their 4-0 win over FCSB at Ibrox.

Rangers are also monitoring the fitness of Jack Butland, who hopes to return to Manchester United for the match after spending the 2022/23 season on loan there.

The Gers have been without John Souttar, Dujon Sterling, and Tom Lawrence in recent weeks, while Oscar Cortes and Danilo have picked up new injuries.
