According to the Daily Mail, Joe Aribo, a midfielder for Southampton, will not be returning to Rangers.

In what is expected to be the last major deal of his professional career, the Nigerian international will not be expecting to make less than £70,000 per week, according to a news source article from January 23.

Even though Southampton is willing to sell the 28-year-old for the £6 million they paid to get him, a reunion with him is not likely as the Gers are looking to reduce their salary cost and prefer younger players.

Joe Aribo should not be re-signed by the Rangers.

Despite Aribo’s prior success at Ibrox, it makes sense for the Gers to pass on his services.

Signing him will demonstrate that they are returning to tried-and-true names and have no hidden plans to develop a side for the future.

Although it is clear that the club is always recruiting, adding Aribo would also disrupt their pay scale.

The 28-year-old has played in the Premier League and would prefer a sideways move, if feasible, so it would be difficult to say whether he would be amenable to returning to Ibrox.

To make sure the Gers receive good value, Nils Koppen must sign players that are undervalued in Europe. These players must also be long-term options.

Aribo would only be a temporary solution, and in a few years the team would also need to think about replacing him.

A few new additions are required, so maybe some good possibilities will be lined up before the transfer window shuts.
