Norwich City have reportedly called off their pursuit of Peterborough United defender Emmanuel Fernandez, despite having submitted a significant bid for the 23-year-old on Sunday.
Fernandez has been a key figure in Darren Ferguson’s defense this season, with his standout performances attracting attention from Championship clubs during the winter transfer window. After joining Peterborough in 2021 from non-league side Ramsgate—following his release from Gillingham—he spent time on loan at Barnet before establishing himself as a first-team regular over the past year.
The centre-back has made 33 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing five goals. With Peterborough currently struggling in 19th place in League One, Fernandez seemed poised to step up to the Championship with Norwich. Keeping Fernandez is a significant boost for Peterborough. Despite being relatively new to the professional ranks—having played non-league football as recently as 2023 and making just 52 EFL appearances—he has quickly established himself as a standout performer in League One.
