Rising Talent Josh Landers Seals Move from Hibs to West Ham United

Josh Landers has shared an emotional message after completing his transfer from Hibernian to West Ham United.

The promising striker has officially joined the Premier League club following a successful trial in January. Landers, who made three senior appearances for Hibs, was initially set for a trial with the Hammers last summer but suffered a broken arm in a match against Rangers. However, he used his recovery period wisely, preparing himself for the challenge of English football.

A prolific goalscorer since joining the Hibs Academy at age 10, Landers made his U18 debut at 14 and featured in the UEFA Youth League at 15. In the summer of 2023, he signed a professional contract and made his first-team debut in a Scottish League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at Hampden.

Reflecting on his move, Landers expressed his gratitude and excitement:

“Signing for such a big club is an incredible feeling. Every footballer dreams of playing in the Premier League, and while this is just the start, it feels surreal. Coming from a small town to a top-flight club in London is really special.”

He credited his early development to playing against older, stronger opponents and highlighted how his first-team experience at Hibs helped shape him. Despite the setback of his injury, he believes it was a blessing in disguise, allowing him to return fitter and faster.

Landers also acknowledged the support of his family and teammates, saying:

“My parents, sister, and grandparents have been amazing. My dad used to drive me 45 minutes each way to training three times a week, which was a huge commitment. The lads I lived with in digs have also played a big role in my journey, helping me mature and grow.”

West Ham United Academy Manager Kenny Brown praised the young forward’s potential, stating:

“Josh is a modern striker who can play with his back to goal and make runs in behind. We’ve monitored him for six months, and when he finally joined us in January, he impressed with his work ethic, attitude, and finishing ability. We’re excited to support his development on and off the pitch.”

Now, as Landers embarks on this new chapter, West Ham is eager to nurture his talent and help him reach his full potential in the Premier League.
