Eagles Expected to Receive White House Invitation After Super Bowl LIX Victory

The Super Bowl LIX champions appear set to be honored in Washington, D.C.

Initially, reports on Sunday suggested the Philadelphia Eagles had no interest in visiting the White House for a celebratory event. However, by Monday, new reports indicated that the team would be open to attending—if invited.

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump confirmed that an invitation would be extended.

Q: The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl. Will they be invited to the White House?

TRUMP: They will be. We haven’t yet, but they will be. I thought they put on a great performance, and absolutely, they’ll get that invitation. Would you do that right away? We’ll do it today. They deserve to be here, and we hope to see them.

It now appears the Eagles will make the trip to the White House.

Notably, the team was also set to visit in 2018 after winning Super Bowl LII. However, after only a small group of players planned to attend, the invitation was essentially rescinded.

With this in mind, it remains to be seen whether history will repeat itself if a significant portion of the team opts out of the visit.
