Rangers-Ferguson-Butland-1140x641

Barry Ferguson oversaw his second match as interim manager as Rangers faced Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

Ferguson made one change to his starting lineup at Ibrox, bringing in Ridvan Yilmaz for Clinton Nsiala against Stuart Kettlewell’s side on Saturday (March 1).

The Light Blues endured a disastrous first half, conceding twice to Luke Armstrong and Tom Sparrow, with Jack Butland enduring a forgettable outing between the posts. Cyriel Dessers managed to pull one back in the 54th minute, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a result.

Rangers Player Ratings vs Motherwell

Jack Butland – 2
A costly mistake led to Motherwell’s opener. He had little chance with the second goal and wasn’t heavily tested after the break.

Ridvan Yilmaz (substituted in the 84th minute for Dujon Sterling) – 5
The Turkish full-back was involved in attacking play and generally solid defensively.

James Tavernier – 6
Playing out of position at center-back, the Rangers captain remained composed in his 500th appearance for the club.

Robin Propper (substituted at half-time for Leon Balogun) – 3
Struggled at the heart of the defense as Rangers conceded twice in the opening half, leading to his withdrawal at halftime.

Jefte – 3
Defensively vulnerable, particularly on the flank where Motherwell’s goal originated, overshadowing his contributions going forward.

Nicolas Raskin – 6
Provided defensive cover in midfield but could have done more to protect the backline in the first half.

Diomande Impresses Despite Defeat

Mohamed Diomande (substituted in the 74th minute for Danilo) – 7
A rare bright spark in midfield, contributing in both attack and defense. His substitution was somewhat surprising given his impact.

Vaclav Cerny – 0
Virtually anonymous throughout and failed to influence the game in any way.

Ianis Hagi (substituted at half-time for Nedim Bajrami) – 4
Tried to create chances but struggled to find his teammates in dangerous areas, leading to his halftime substitution.

Cyriel Dessers – 6
His poor first touch contributed to Rangers conceding the opener. He did manage to score early in the second half but was inconsistent overall. His 80th-minute equalizer was ruled offside.

Hamza Igamane (substituted at half-time for Tom Lawrence) – 5
Continued his rough patch with another ineffective first-half display before being replaced.

Substitutes:

Leon Balogun – 7
Brought defensive stability after halftime, winning key duels and keeping Motherwell’s attack at bay.

Nedim Bajrami – 5
Looked to inject creativity but struggled to make a meaningful impact.

Tom Lawrence – 4
Wasteful in possession and failed to influence proceedings.

Danilo – 4
Had a chance to change the game but failed to make a difference.

Dujon Sterling – N/A
