Rangers’ Glen Kamara demands Uefa action over alleged racist remark

Glen Kamara has stated that if UEFA does not take action against Slavia Prague’s Ondrej Kudela for a racist remark allegedly made during the Europa League match at Ibrox, it would be effectively condoning racism. Kamara firmly rejects Kudela’s version of events and claims that a teammate also heard the offensive comment.

The incident occurred in the 87th minute when Kudela covered his mouth and whispered something into Kamara’s ear, prompting an angry reaction. Rangers manager Steven Gerrard later revealed that Kamara had reported the remark as a racial slur. Slavia Prague denies the accusation, claiming that Kudela said, “You’re a fucking guy,” and further alleging that Kamara assaulted Kudela in the tunnel after the match.

In a statement, Kamara emphasized that players have been taking a knee in solidarity against racial violence, and if UEFA truly wants to combat racism, it must move beyond symbolic gestures and adopt a strict zero-tolerance policy. He insisted that no player should have to endure racism on or off the field, particularly on an international stage, and warned that UEFA’s inaction would signal acceptance of such behavior.

Describing the incident, Kamara said Kudela was arguing with a Rangers player, and when Kamara intervened, Kudela first told him to be quiet before approaching, covering his mouth, and whispering in his ear: “You’re a fucking monkey, you know you are.”
