Rangers ‘must move now to land legendary manager’ linked with Ibrox job

Rangers must act quickly if they aspire to appoint Jose Mourinho as their next permanent manager, following recent developments.

Currently, Barry Ferguson is leading the Light Blues in a temporary capacity after Philippe Clement was dismissed due to disappointing performances and results. Ferguson, a former player with a storied past at Ibrox, has taken the helm with the aim of proving himself worthy of the permanent position, though his future remains uncertain.

As the anticipated takeover by the 49ers looms, there’s a possibility that the new ownership may seek to hire a manager with a higher profile to enhance the club’s stature.

Mourinho has been a target for Rangers

Mourinho, who has publicly praised Rangers earlier this season, has been a notable candidate for the managerial role. The renowned Portuguese manager has had an illustrious career at clubs such as Porto, Chelsea, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid.

Mourinho might be moving elsewhere

It is reported that during his recent visit to Ibrox with Fenerbahce for a Europa League match, Mourinho assessed the situation at Rangers. Meanwhile, the club is hopeful of enticing the 62-year-old away from his current position, where he has navigated various controversies.

However, Rangers face competition, as they are not the only ones interested in Mourinho’s services. Reports from Globo suggest that the Brazil Football Confederation is considering him as a potential option for their national team. Although Mourinho has yet to manage at the international level, the allure of coaching a prestigious national team like Brazil could be tempting.

If Rangers have indeed identified Mourinho as a target, they need to act swiftly to secure his commitment before the Selecao steps in.
