Celtic predicted XI vs St Johnstone as Brendan Rodgers decides between Kuhn and Forrest

Celtic still have some work to do before they can realistically aim for a domestic Treble this season.

They’ve already claimed the Premier Sports Cup, and they’re on the brink of clinching the Premiership title—just a point against Dundee United next weekend would be enough to seal it.

That leaves the Scottish Cup, a trophy Celtic have lifted the past two seasons—first under Ange Postecoglou and then Brendan Rodgers last year.

Aberdeen will be their opponents in the final after the Dons edged past Hearts in extra time to book a spot at Hampden in May.

However, Celtic can’t look that far ahead just yet. Their immediate focus has to be on St Johnstone, the team that stunned them with a 1-0 victory at McDiarmid Park just two weeks ago under Simo Valakari’s management.

Nicolas Kuhn or James Forrest for Celtic?

As far as the team selection is concerned, Rodgers will not be able to call upon Kasper Schmeichel, Dane Murray or Yang due to injuries.

It means we expect there to be two changes for the semi-final encounter, both of which on the wings.

Jota and Nicolas Kuhn were dropped for the 5-1 demolition of Kilmarnock last weekend, with James Forrest and Adam Idah starting in attack.

Idah failed to get on the scoresheet, but Forrest did impress. However, we expect Kuhn to come back in on the right wing with Jota starting on the left.

That will allow Daizen Maeda to move back inside and be deployed as a central striker, which appears to be his best position now.

Elsewhere, Viljami Sinisalo will continue to play between the sticks, while it’s an unchanged back four from the Killie triumph.

Captain Callum McGregor starts and he will be joined in midfield by Reo Hatate – who was tremendous at Celtic Park last week – and Arne Engels.

It’s Jota and Kuhn on the left and right wings respectively, with Maeda up front.
