49ers Enterprises wants to control Leeds United for a very long time, so making plans for both the on and off-field future will be critical to their success.
The 49ers have talked of owning Leeds for more than ten years, and their actions to rehabilitate Elland Road have demonstrated their devotion to that goal.
Leeds announced this week their plans to transform Elland Road into the seventh-largest club stadium in England, with a focus on behind-the-scenes operations.
Although Simon Jordan thinks this might be the spark that propels Leeds back to the top of English football, it will ultimately rely on how well they perform on the pitch.
In light of this, Leeds’ recently established recruitment squad, working with the 49ers, will try to sign some young players for the academy who may eventually make it into the first team.
Leeds is considering a move for young Karl Agnero of Port Vale.
Leeds hasn’t given academy recruitment much of a priority since Victor Orta’s time, but that might be about to change.
Leeds is one of many teams interested in recruiting 16-year-old midfielder Karl Agnero of Port Vale. Stoke, Norwich City, and numerous more teams are all reportedly keeping an eye on the player.
Considered a young player with “huge potential,” Agnero made his senior debut at Port Vale during their most recent EFL Trophy match against the Wolverhampton Wanderers U21s.
Leeds reportedly thinks Agnero has what it takes to break into the starting lineup in the future, and they may increase their pursuit of him to acquire an advantage over their rivals.
Leeds is supposedly eager to develop a “strong base of youth” at the team in an attempt to replicate the recent achievements of Archie Grey and Crysencio Summerville, who were both sold for significant sums of money.
The academy talent nearing Leeds’s breakthrough
A handful of Leeds players who are now on the fringes of Daniel Farke’s team don’t seem to be quite ready for first team action on a regular basis.
But given the present injury situation, that could alter in the upcoming weeks. Ethan Ampadu’s 10-week layoff might make room for two young players.
Ampadu is not just Leeds’ greatest midfield player, but he can also play centre back. With that in mind, both Charlie Crew and James Debayo will be aiming to take advantage.
A little lower on the hierarchy is Luca Thomas, who is having a fantastic Premier League Two season with the U21s.
With five goals in his first four games this season, Thomas is already the joint top scorer in the Premier League, and Farke may soon take note of him.
