Daniel Farke shares why one of Leeds United’s new signings has actually surprised him

Daniel Farke has been acclimating Leeds United’s recent acquisitions to the team gradually.

Leeds added eight players in the summer, but it has taken some time for them to fully establish an impression because so many of them arrived late.

The only two players who have started every league game thus far are Jayden Bogle and Joe Rodon. After a challenging beginning, Bogle is becoming more and more proficient with each game.

Joe Rothwell, on the other hand, commented about playing his first meaningful number of league minutes in the 1-1 draw against Norwich City after just making fleeting cameo appearances.

In the last week, Largie Ramazani, Ao Tanaka, Manor Solomon, and Isaac Schmidt arrived; of them, the first two are now genuinely beginning to make an impression.

Farke talks about how Leeds shocked him with Largie Ramazani

Ramazani was limited to playing off the bench in his first two games after signing from UD Almeria, as Solomon was favoured over him.

But Ramazani entered the last three games because of Solomon’s recent injury problems, and he hasn’t looked back.

Ramazani was brought in to replace Crysencio Summerville, and since then, he has made three starts, registering two goals and one assist.

Speaking in his pre-Sunderland press conference, Farke believes Ramazani’s talent has actually surprised him, with his ‘first impression’ having been more about his ‘potential’ than end result.

“He’s improving, that much is certain. He comes from a different football culture,” he remarked. It wasn’t the easiest preseason for him—being dropped to the second division and not always playing because of bookings and injuries is never easy.

“I must admit, I’m pleased. Initially, I thought he had potential, but he still needs to work on his physical appearance. We put a lot of effort into our work with him, and I’m happy to report that he already had a significant impact on the final product—two goals and one assist. He is becoming better every day.

How many goals or assists he can provide was a question in La Liga. Additionally, he can be a somewhat steady and effective defender, although he still has to work on his defence. For example, we could have prevented the winger from cutting inside for Norwich’s first goal; we must do better there.

“I’m happy he can make it into the starting lineup; he can cover more ground, but we’re talking to him about it. It was never intended to play three games in six days, but if he is truly capable, that would be a huge feat. The development he’s making is encouraging, and the minutes are helpful to him. I’m hoping he can make a positive impression on Friday night.

Ramazani has established himself on Leeds’ left wing.

Ramazani has had to produce like this to stay in the team amid competition for a spot in Leeds’ wide roles.

There is no way either of them should be ahead of him right now when Solomon and Dan James go back to full fitness. Still, it’s preferable that they return to the bench as soon as possible given that Farke has taken him off the field early in every game.

After the draw at Norwich, Jon Newsome praised James as one of the best players in the Championship, but even he does not think he will be able to return to the team.
