After being left off of Japan’s roster for the match against Australia, Yuki Ohashi will return to Blackburn Rovers before taking against Swansea City.
During this international break, the 28-year-old received his first call-up to the national squad. In their 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, he did not play as a replacement.
After that, he was left off of the roster for the match against Australia, which ended in a 1-1 tie in their home country. Japan only named 23 players for the match, therefore personnel selection—rather than injury concerns—was the reason Ohashi wasn’t selected for the bench.
Their manager, Hajime Moriyasu, has implied that Ohashi is still a vital member of their team despite the lack of participation. This time, the goal was to bed him into the senior camp. In November, Japan will play China and Indonesia.
As Rovers are ready to play Swansea City this weekend, Ohashi will now return to Manchester before going to Brockhall. He should be ready for the match at Ewood Park considering how few minutes he has played.
Craig Bellamy did not use Owen Beck either. Wales defeated Montenegro on Monday night after drawing with Iceland.
Although the left-back has not yet earned his first senior, the national team lineup obviously thinks highly of him. He will be eager to return to the Rovers starting lineup after making an impression in his first two games there.
During the interval, Balazs Toth and Andi Weimann also had viewing briefs. Despite being called up to the Austrian team, Rovers’ 33-year-old watched as they easily defeated Norway and Kazakhstan.
Leo Duru, who made his USA Under-20s debut and shone in their victory against Chile, was arguably the biggest international triumph over the break. After that, they lost the rematch friendly 2-1.
Earlier this week, Nick Michalski, a young goalie, made his England Under-18 debut. Before entering as a halftime substitute in their 3-1 victory against Ukraine, he had already earned caps for the Under-15 and 16 teams.
In their two games during the break, the Republic of Ireland Under-21s did not employ Connor O’Riordan as a substitute. Over the interval, they drew 1-1 with Italy and Norway, with previous loanee Andrew Moran tying the score in the second match.
