Jamie O’Hara, a Sky Sports analyst, believes Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester United is coming to an end and has questioned why the team offered the Dutchman a contract extension in the summer.
After their most recent heartbreaking loss, Jamie O’Hara has urged Manchester United to end Erik ten Hag’s suffering.
After barely retaining his job in the summer, Ten Hag has presided over a dismal start to the new season, and after their 2-1 loss to West Ham, the pressure of the struggling Dutchman is only going to increase in the days ahead.
Although they declined to make a change during the last international break, the club’s management apparently contacted several coaches in recent weeks. However, O’Hara now believes that Ten Hag should be fired because he has had enough. On Wednesday, United will play Leicester City in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford.
The former Tottenham midfielder stated on Sky Sports: “After nine games, [United] is in 14th place in the table. Come on, this is Man United.”
It hasn’t quite occurred, but you can almost assume that they’ll be in the top half even if they’re ninth. Despite playing nine games this season, they have already lost four.
“I’d get rid of him; I would have gotten rid of him three months ago,” O’Hara said in response to the question of what he would do if he were in charge at Old Trafford. ‘Thanks very much, you’ve finished with a trophy, go out on a high’ is how I would have responded if I had offered him a contract following the FA Cup.
“They’ve performed poorly overall, but they ought to have gained something from today’s game. They have performed poorly in the Europa League, which I have also observed.
O’Hara continued by recommending that Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ten Hag’s No. 2, be assigned to the position whenever he returns to Old Trafford in the summer. It is also said that club officials recently met with Xavi, the former Barcelona manager, in Spain.
“I’d give it to Van Nistelrooy,” O’Hara went on. He’s a manager there with the potential to take over, which is why you brought him in.
They’re 14th in the table, so I don’t think things can get any worse. Can it get any worse? In my opinion, Ten Hag should be fired, Van Nistelrooy should be given a few weeks, and we should see what happens during the international break. Xavi is a good choice. I apologise, but Ten Hag is not Man United’s future. He is inadequate. He’s served his time.
