Hugh Keevins makes ‘Extraordinary’ Rangers claim ahead of Olympiacos showdown

Hugh Keevins has sent out a “extraordinary” reminder regarding Rangers in advance of their matchup with Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

After they fought to a 2-1 victory against Motherwell in the League Cup semi-final over the weekend, there is a certain amount of pessimism surrounding the Light Blues ahead of their journey to Athens on November 7.

The Greek giants have threatened Philippe Clement and company, but Keevins thinks it would be foolish to rule out the Ibrox team.

On Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins stated, “Europe remarkably brings something out in Rangers that you rarely see at domestic level” (5 November).

When you least expect it, they can achieve the most remarkable outcomes. Therefore, don’t discount them, but they must be far superior to what they were on Sunday.

Rangers make a “extraordinary” assertion prior of their match against Olympiacos. Rangers is currently nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in the race for the title as a result of their dismal performances in every tournament this season.

But perhaps Keevins is correct when he says that Clement’s team is superior in Europe. Notably, they have already won two of their three Europa League games; their lone loss came on October 3 against Lyon.

After a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock, the Gers played FCSB at home in their final European match, but they showed no signs of being affected as they outscored the Romanian team by four goals.

Last season, they also had a respectable run in the Europa League, making it to the round of 16 before losing badly to Benfica.

Rangers, who will next host Hearts at home in the league on Sunday, November 10, would therefore greatly benefit from a victory over Olympiacos.

The Athens-based team, like the Gers, has won two of their first three Europa League games; their lone defeat came against Lyon.
