Europa League rivals want to sign now £63m-rated hitman once linked to Rangers

Rangers had a period when they appeared to have the chance to expand after regaining their position as Scotland’s domestic champions.

However, a chronic decline brought on by the Rangers’ squad’s poor management, transfer budget, and fleeting hold on the domestic game necessitated a drastic shift in strategy during the summer transfer window.

Although it is unclear how things will unfold under Philippe Clement’s youthful revolution, Rangers supporters believe that some players have slipped through their fingers in recent seasons.

Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon is one of them; the Swedish striker may now accompany his Portuguese manager to the Premier League.

After Rangers links, Victor Gyokeres draws attention. During Victor Gyokeres’ English Championship tenure with Coventry City, Rangers were the target of ambitious links.

According to reports from May 2023, Rangers made a “surprise move” to sign Gyokeres as Michael Beale sought to replace Alfredo Morelos, who was leaving. Instead, Rangers paid a total of £10.5 million on Danilo and Cyriel Dessers, and despite the two players’ first season in Scotland, the team’s performance has not yet shown that the investment was worthwhile.

Victor Gyokeres later moved to Sporting Lisbon in a huge £18.5 million transfer, indicating that Rangers were never a real contender for the hitman.

However, the striker is drawing attention south as Ruben Amorim’s Sporting team destroys Manchester City, thus the Portuguese team’s investment is paying off handsomely.

Rivals of Rangers in the Europa League want a £63 million hitman. The Sporting Lisbon manager had the opportunity to win the club’s support right away against rivals Manchester City, since Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim was expected to join Manchester United.

With Rangers scheduled to play the 39-year-old at the storied old stadium this season in the Europa League, Amorim has been selected to succeed Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

However, there was still time to lead Sporting to a historic 4-1 victory over Premier League champions Manchester City before Amorim begins his new position at United on November 11.

Gyokeres, a deadly 26-year-old forward, scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, in a surprise Champions League victory that left Pep Guardiola’s team in disbelief in Portugal. According to the Star, Viktor Gyokeres is being pursued by both Manchester United and Chelsea in anticipation of next summer.

Numerous Premier League clubs have been informed by The Telegraph that the Swedish striker may be available for £63 million before the January transfer market opens.

Rangers won’t be impacted whether Viktor Gyokeres joins Ruben Amorim at Manchester United in January. Even though Rangers won’t be visiting Manchester until January 23rd, new players cannot be registered for the remaining Europa League group stage.
