Recent events at Ibrox have led Si Ferry to criticise Cyriel Dessers, claiming the Rangers striker appears to be 42 years old.
Even after he scored in the Gers’ Europa League draw with Olympiacos, the Nigerian forward has been criticised by both fans and commentators for his performances thus far this season.
Ferry, the host of Open Goal, has criticised the 29-year-old forward, saying he “cannot move” at the top end of the field, despite the fact that he has emerged as one of the Light Blues’ most reliable goal producers.
He stated, “Dessers is,” on the Open Goal YouTube channel (7 November, 38:58). Hurry up.
“He is immobile and appears to be 42 years old!”
How is Cyriel Dessers, a striker for Rangers, doing at Ibrox?
Dessers, 29, still misses far too many opportunities in front of goal despite seemingly having a flair for scoring.
Philippe Clement’s team will need a striker who can score at least 20 goals in the Premiership if they want to win the title this season. Dessers might receive double figures, but any more would be shocking.
The Niergain international is equally annoying away from the penalty area. He struggles with hold-up play and isn’t very good at playing with his back to the goal. Even though he doesn’t always receive the best treatment, he wastes possession when he does.
Although the 29-year-old isn’t by any means Clement’s biggest issue at Ibrox right now, the Rangers manager must figure out a strategy that will maximise the striker’s potential at the top of the pitch.
It doesn’t seem like Dessers alone will be able to send the Gers to the bottom this season, whether it means starting Danilo or Hamza Igamane alongside him or benching him.
