Former City striker Alan Smith believes that Facundo Buonanotte is a man worth purchasing, but when Brighton is involved, it will be much more difficult.
Former striker Alan Smith thinks Brighton’s cunning will crush hopes of a permanent move for Leicester City loanee Facundo Buonanotte.
Even though Buonanotte is only 19 years old, he has already emerged as one of City’s season’s highlights, and many supporters will be hoping he remains past next summer, even if the team has pay a club-record cost to sign him. Smith, a former attacker for City and Arsenal, believes his former team need to try to close the deal.
However, he is also aware of how unlikely it is to happen. It would be shocking if Brighton let go of such a potential youngster before giving him an opportunity at the Amex Stadium, since they have shown themselves to be among the most astute transfer window managers in recent years.
Smith told Instant Casino that Leicester should aim to sign Facundo Buonanotte if they are able to. “I doubt Brighton would permit that; they’re such a cunningly managed team that it’s hard to imagine them simply letting go of a player with his calibre.
“Brighton most likely saw Buonanotte’s time at Leicester as a fantastic chance to obtain consistent playing time and return to the team with that experience under his belt. Although he is still young and has a long way to go before he is considered top quality, he will undoubtedly be an interesting player in the future wherever he ends up playing well for a team like Leicester, who are in a different situation than Brighton.
Buonanotte has scored three goals and assisted on two more, for a total of five goals to date. Only three players from the bottom half of the Premier League are ahead of him, including Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa of Brentford and Dwight McNeil of Everton. That places him in joint-15th place.
